Privacy policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
This policy explains what information Trowelly (trowelly.com) collects and how it is used. The short version: we collect very little, we do not sell data, and we do not use tracking cookies.
Calculator inputs
Calculations run entirely in your browser. The measurements and prices you type are not sent to our servers. When you change an input, the page address updates to include your inputs so that you can bookmark or share the result; that address stays in your browser unless you share it.
Reports and downloads
Excel and PDF reports are created in your browser from the result on screen. Nothing is uploaded to make them.
ZIP code for local stores
If you enter a ZIP code under “Where to buy”, it is saved in your browser’s local storage so you don’t have to type it again. It is not sent to our servers or to analytics. It becomes part of a map search link (for example “lumber yard near 60601”) only when you click that link, which opens Google Maps. Use “Clear” to remove it.
Links to stores
“Where to buy” links open the store’s own website, which has its own privacy policy. Today these are plain links with no tracking. If some become affiliate links, the box will say so and our disclosure will list the programs.
Project planner
Items you add to the project planner are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device. We cannot see them. You can remove them at any time with “Clear planner” or by clearing your browser’s site data. If you use “Copy share link”, the list is encoded into the link itself, after the # sign, which browsers do not send to our servers.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure page speed. It does not use cookies, does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you. It records information such as the page visited, the referring site, your browser type, country and page-load timings.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare’s own privacy policy for details.
Contact form and email
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, topic, message and any page link you include, plus your country as reported by Cloudflare. The form sends this to us as an email; it is not stored in a database on our site. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and message. We use either only to reply and to fix any problem you report, and keep correspondence only as long as needed for that purpose.
To stop spam, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a bot, is sending the message. Turnstile does not use cookies for advertising and does not show puzzles in most cases. It processes technical information such as your IP address and browser characteristics; see Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum for details. We also limit how many messages can be sent from one connection per minute.
Cookies and advertising
We do not currently set cookies or show advertising. If that changes, for example if we add advertising or affiliate links, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first. See our advertising disclosure.
Children
The site is intended for adults planning home projects and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Because we hold almost none, the main item is email correspondence. Contact info@trowelly.com and we will respond.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
